Description

The National Institute for Oceanography and Marine Research (NIOMR) is seeking qualified and experienced individuals to join our dynamic team as Research Scientists in the field of Fisheries Biology. As a Research Scientist, you will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research, contributing to the development of sustainable fisheries management practices, and advancing our understanding of marine ecosystems.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on fisheries biology, including population dynamics, stock assessment, and ecosystem modeling.
  • Design and implement field studies, experiments, and surveys to collect data on fish populations and their habitats.
  • Analyze biological samples using advanced techniques and technologies.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate biological data into broader marine ecosystem research.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present results at scientific conferences.
  • Provide expertise and guidance to support fisheries management and conservation efforts.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and strategies for sustainable fisheries practices.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Fisheries Biology, Marine Biology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in conducting independent research in fisheries biology, with a strong publication record.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and modeling relevant to fisheries science.
  • Knowledge of marine ecosystem dynamics and the ability to apply ecological principles to fisheries management.
  • Experience with fieldwork, data collection, and laboratory techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
