Director of Communications & Advocacy
Location: London, England, United Kingdom (Hybrid)
Salary: £77,000 – £90,000

About the Role
This is a dynamic opportunity to lead all aspects of media, communications, public affairs, and campaigning for the Sutton Trust. You will shape strategic communication initiatives, build high-profile influence with key policymakers, and oversee the Trust’s brand and public presence. The role includes managing a high-performing team, delivering impactful campaigns, and spearheading digital and traditional media strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic communications, campaigns, and public affairs plans.
- Lead media relations, securing high-profile coverage and managing key contacts.
- Oversee digital, social, and traditional communications for maximum impact.
- Plan and deliver events, positioning the Trust as a thought leader.

About the Role
An exciting opportunity to lead and enhance the Sutton Trust’s impact and evaluation strategy. You will develop and implement frameworks, manage data collection, and ensure that impact is effectively integrated across our programmes. Working closely with internal teams and external partners, you will drive best practices in evaluation and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage impact evaluation strategies, including theories of change and evaluation frameworks.
- Lead data collection and analysis, ensuring best practices across all programmes.
- Oversee reporting on programme outcomes for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Work with internal teams and external partners (e.g., universities) to align evaluation efforts.
- Manage external research and evaluation projects, ensuring quality and adherence to budgets.
- Support the development of CRM systems (Salesforce) for data collection and reporting.
